Clomid Success StoryFrom: Serena (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 16 Jun 2001 16:06:57 -0500 (CDT)
Hello Everyone, I've visited this message board several times since I've suspected that I had PCOS. My husband & I have been trying to conceive for the last 19 months without medical assistance. Well, in May of this year I finally gave in & accepted the fact that I would need to see a fertility specialist. From reading this board I pretty much knew that I had PCOS (excessive weight & facial hair & periods that skipped anywhere from 6 to 8 months). I went to a recommended "reproductive endocrinologist" (fertility specialist) had a blood test done & a vaginal sonogram. My hubby had to give a sperm analysis (poor guy I thought he was gonna run away from home when I told him THAT). LOL We waited two weeks & went back for my results... as I expected I was diagnosed with PCOS & since my periods were almost non existant my doctor told me that even on the oddball months that I was getting my period I probably wasn't ovulating even than. Geez, and all of those months of trying to conceive! My husbands sperm count & mobility was fine. My doctor put me on 50 mgs. of Clomid for 5 days, than six days after I took my last pill I went in for an HCG shot to release the three eggs in my follicles. The two following days I went in for I.U.I (intra uterine insemination). As usual my health coverage didn't cover that part. My doctor wanted the I.U.I.'s done rather than going "natural" because he would only allow me on Clomid for three months. He wanted to give me the highest chance of conceiving each month. Two days after the insemination I had very sore breats & nipples, mood swings galore & a HUGE craving for Taco Bell bean burritos. I suspected either I was going to get my period FINALLY or I was pregnant. I guess by the subject title you guessed which one it was :o) This morning, 13 days after my insemination, I took a home pregnancy test (First Response Early Result)& I saw TWO PINK LINES! I stared back in utter amazement!! I told my Mom right away but I'm waiting until tomorrow (Fathers Day) to tell hubby. So please don't doubt what your body can do for you. As I said earlier I have been missing/skipping periods all of my life. If I can get pregnant than I'm sure that you can too! Monday I go back to my specialist to take his pregnancy test (urine) followed by a blood test when that comes back positive). I wanted to take it at home before Monday just in case it was negative (I could cry at home that way) PLUS I figured it would be a nice Fathers Day gift if it was positive. Many blessings to all of you who are trying to conceive. You will all be in my prayers. I live on Long Island, NY so if you're in my area let me know if you need a doctor recommendation. Feel free to email if you have any questions regarding my treatment (including the costs). I'll give you any info that I can. I know that "lost" feeling when dealing with fertility problems & it helps to have a friend that can understand what you're going through. Love Serena MunchGrumbies@aol.com
