Re: excess body hairFrom: Alicia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 14 Jun 2001 13:26:29 -0500 (CDT)
Yeah, the hair can be traumatic. Mine was bad at 19. I'm 28 now and it has gotten much better. These are the things that I'm guessing helped me. Maybe they will help you too. I eat a low/moderate carb diet. No sodas, diet or regular, no pasta, no bread before dinner. No candy, no cookies, no ice cream. No sugar. (Ok, I do cheat every now and then but maybe 2 or 3 small items a week.) I exercise 3x a week. I maintain a healthy weight. The hair gets even better when I am a little underweight. I take spironolactone (2 1/2 years and counting). I use Vaniqa (on the face it works very well...I'm not sure about the rest of the body.) After I started BCPs the hair on my face grew slower (but didn't 'lessen') Like I said, I don't know which of these things has had the greatest impact on the hair. Maybe they only work all together. Who knows? Some of the hair has stuck around the belly button on down (the happy trail). But it is less than it used to be. I guess I could wax it but I am not usually walking around in hipsters and a halter top so I put my energy in to other things. Good luck.
