Re: Is there hope?From: Alta (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 12 Jun 2001 11:27:09 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, Renee. Some doctors say that PCOS is one of the infertility problems for which there is a fairly high success rate. Don't give up before you even start! I was diagnosed just a month ago by a reproductive endo. I've been on metformin for about a month. My body really had to adjust to it, but it finally has. I even think I may have ovulated this month. Sorry you have to wait so long to see your specialist. In the mean time, buy the authoritative guide to PCOS called _PCOS, the Hidden Epidemic_ by Dr. Samuel Thatcher. You can order it from Amazon.com. The book is in its first printing and won't be available in paperback until later this year, but because you'll refer to it a lot, go ahead and get the hard-bound version. (I also found some minor editorial mistakes, but, hey, I'm just AR about that stuff!) Good luck and stay positive. There is a lot of info on the web. ~Alta :-)
