Jodi, Same here. My dad had a heart attack a few years back, and now he's regained his weight. I don't think he has ever looked into IR, but my older brother swears that Dr. Atkins is the only diet that works for him. (I personally think it is a little too heavy on the meat.)

I know you are big into reading, and you're a year up on me on research, but have you read _Syndrome X: The Complete Nutritional Program to Prevent and Reverse Insulin Resistance_ by Jack Challem, Burton Berkson, Melissa Diane Smith, Burt Berkson.

It is one of the few books on IR or PCOS that I could find casually in a store. This one was found at Waldenbooks. I'm 1/3 way through. The authors repeat a lot, but I'm learning about IR.

Personal note: I confessed about my PCOS to my parents about 2 weeks ago when they visited for my birthday. I didn't really want the world to know I was TTC, but PCOS is a health issue, and IR runs in families, so I wanted to come clean.

Best to you, Alta
