My RE made me wait 6mths before trying infertility treatment too even though we both knew I COULD NOT get pg without medical help. I think its just a procedure they have to go through. They will try u on clomid first anyway even if they do decide to give u metformin. If clomid doesnt work they will probably give u Met to take WITH the clomid to "help" activate the clomid & if that fails then the injections start!
