New and Saying Hello..From: Katie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 30 May 2001 15:38:36 -0500 (CDT)
Hello :~D I have had PCOS since puberty, I guess, but was only just diagnosed yesterday based on testosterone level and polycystic ovaries. I am having a hard time with it, but am feeling angry enough at it to take action with low carb diet, exercize, etc. I am very fearful of Diabetes since my mother died from it's complications. I still have periods about every 45 days and they are heavy and horribly painful..is that normal with pcos? Also, I am taking BC pills, spironalactone, and vaniqua..has anyone had luck with these? I am a single 33 year old and want to meet a man and fall in love..but my self esteem is so bad from the weight and chin hair (between constant plucking and laser) that I am not feeling remotely ready to date. Plus, I want children someday and that brings up a whole other set of emotional issues. HOW STINKY this is!! Anyway, sorry to vent..I really just wanted to introduce myself and see if anyone had some words of wisdom to the newbie.
