Do you happen to remember what you were taking?

I am curious as to the link between valproic acid (depakote) and PCOS. I have read studies suggesting VA leads to PCOS symptoms, but the results are generally inconclusive. I was on depakote for a short time as a "manic depressive" teenager... funny how the same meds used for migraines are used for manic depression... they think there's a link in the brain somewhere... and my hair started falling out in massive amounts. I knew this was one of the side effects listed on the pharmacy leaflet with the drug, so at first I thought I was just imagining it... but when my bath tub kept clogging, I knew it was real! I quit taking the medication and my hair quit falling out.

I am wondering if VA can lead to PCOS, or lead to it worsening in those who are predisposed... if they only think there is a link because VA does worsen symptoms and PCOS women are likely to have conditions which would lead docs to prescribe this med... or what. Just wondering, do you recall what you were on, and did it make PCOS worse at the time? are you still on it?
