what happened when you went off long-term bcps?

Has anyone gone off bcps (after being on them for some time 1 to 2+ years) and found that control over her symptoms remained stable? (That is, pcos symptoms that were successfully controlled by bcps did not come back with a vengeance when off bcps.)

We've been hypothesizing about how bcp just postpone the inevitable and worsen IR, etc. But I'm curious about anyone's real life experience, especially if you exercise and eat PCOS-appropriately.
