BCP make PCOS worse?From: Devone (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 27 May 2001 13:57:56 -0500 (CDT)
I am debating if I should take BCP's. We are not ttc right now and I want to spend this next yr getting PCOS under control. I read that BCP's are good because they reduce testosterone, thus lowering some of the side effects of PCOS, and because they cause regular mensus. My concern is what, if anything, will happen once I stop taking them? Can they actually make PCOS worse? I have been on them three times, once for 6mos, once for 3mos, and then for 15mos. After the 1st time I noticed my PCOS symptoms got a tiny bit worse. Granted I didn't know I had PCOS back then. After the last time they were really bad, and my tubes were even blocked. I don't know if this is in relation to the pill, but it sure seems ood to me. I had a baby, so obviously my tubes were open, took the pill for 15mos and then had blocked tubes!? Weird. I have my OB apt next wk and I need to decide what to do! What can anyone tell me? Thanks, Devone
