Re: Yasmin was aproved by the USFDA on 5/14From: Christa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 24 May 2001 10:47:16 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Faye-- I'm not too familiar with Yasmin although I have read a few postings on this web site about it becoming available through Germany. I currently take Diane 35 which has cyproterone acetate (2mg) and ethinyl estrodiol (0.035mg). The cyproterone acetate is an anti-androgen. The pill itself works as a BCP. I thought, from what little I did read, that the Yasmin was similar to the Diane but it contained a smaller amount of the cyproterone acetate. I do not know for sure though so don't go by that. Also, while reading your post I was wondering if you have ever taken Naproxen for the pain. I used to suffer terrible pain during my period (so bad I couldn't get out of bed, work or anything -- I would just roll around crying trying to make it go away) until the doctor told me to try the Naproxen. It's an anti-inflammatory, works great!! I take one when I feel the pain starting and it never actually comes. The medication has been a Godsend. Hope this helps you.
