Re: Dr's VisitFrom: jodi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 23 May 2001 09:26:36 -0500 (CDT)
whoa... you went in for unrelenting bleeding... are you aware that Spiro causes unrelenting bleeding in some women?? this has happened to me in the past - after 9 days on spiro, i bled constantly for two weeks, quit the meds, bled a week longer and finally stopped. now i am taking BCPs with the spiro in an attempt to have spiro's benefits without spiro's bleeding and... i am having bleeding anyway. :) it seems to me that before you do something so drastic as a hysterectomy, you ought to try getting off a medication which could be making it such that nothing will stop your bleeding. of course... if by monday you mean 2 days ago, it's probably not the spiro that's doing it. still... i don't think this is a good drug for someone to try who is having problems with bleeding to begin with. (just MY opinion, one of those women's gut feeling things... ... i don't claim there to be any medical evidence to back this up) I have no advice to give on the hyterectomy part... i know it won't do anything for PCOS other than make it so you no longer need to worry about when your periods come (or if they go away!). It seems to me that having your ovaries out would eliminate the biggest source of testosterone in you... but you'd have to go into hormone replacement and all that and that might not be much fun. someone more knowledgable in this area than I am should field that question. - jodi
