All the clinical trials with PCOS women were done with 1500mg of Glucophage, that's the safe amount and the dosage that brings about the desired result of lowering insulin levels and therefore lowering the free testosterone, etc.

If you only take 500mg it won't do much. Your doctor, as did mine, started me at 500mg so that my body could get used to it. I was then increased to 1000mg and then 1500mg.

The new Glucophage XR is the BEST as it causes much much much less stomach disruption. My body could hardly tolerate the regular gluco but the new XR has been a dream come true.
