BC's and antibiotic MinocyclineFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 22 May 2001 21:09:57 -0500 (CDT)
Does taking minocycline for the treatment of acne interfere with the action of BC pills which are being used to induce cycling and supposedly to also help with acne and facial hair? Before my daughter was put on the hormones she had been taking the minocycline for acne and it helped a great deal. At the present the hormones are not doing much to help with the acne and she would like to go back to the antibiotic. We had read that antibiotics reduce the effectiveness of BC pills, but since they are not being used for that purpose would taking the antibiotic be a problem? Mary
