this is, of course, merely the outline for the sugar busters diet. :) you will find other sources which say bananas and carrots are fine... corn is ok... all carbs in moderation, of course... and that you should never eat fruit by itself, as eating it with a bit of protein and fat will slow the rate at which it raises blood sugar/insulin.

sugar busters recomends eating fruit by itself so that you get as many vitamins out of it as possible... i happen to feel keeping my blood sugar/insulin in check is more important. so i always have some nuts or string cheese or cottage cheese when i have fruit.

i also eat carrots (raw, or lightly stir fried... and always with a fat/protein...)

if you want to refine your diet, i think that the best way is to read a variety of diet books and pick and choose what works for you and you can stick with. i found sugar busters to be a great spring board for ideas, but i found a lot of info elsewhere that refuted, very convincingly, some of its claims.
