Hi there Nikki :)

This whole weight issue with PCOS is a nightmare symptom, isn't it? It seems sometimes like no matter what you do, how little you eat, how much you excercise, you can't ose weight. Two years ago I spent a year where I was walking at LEAST 10 miles a day, eating low fat, no sugar, and less than 1800 calories a day. (I am a VERY large woman, tall and muscular as well, so 1800 is very little for me.) In that same year, I not only didn't lose weight I GAINED 50lbs! I couldn't believe it! I can so understand your frustration.

Liek I said, I'm a big woman. Currently I weigh around 330lbs. I have a brother and sister - one biological and one adopted - who are borderline eating disorders, though they are relatively thin. I like to think that I know a lot about PCOS and I feel like I manage my health pretty well. Even at this weight, I'm extremely healthy.

The thing is, our bodies are just so different when you have PCOS. Our metabolism is different, and you can't treat it like you would a 'normal' metabolism. Diet and excercise, especially low fat diets, don't make much difference with us except for making things worse, really! There's a whole insulin issue that needs to be addressed and it's important to learn how OUR bodies work so we can work with them. Then it's possible to lose weight. Otherwise, as you and I both have discovered, it's just impossible.

The good enws is there are medications and things you can do that will help your body run more efficiently and be healthier. I'd be more than happy to help you figure some of this stuff out and walk you through it, just drop me an email! Failiing that, I'm always around to be a diet buddy or someone to vent to. Okay?

I wish you luck! And I'm so glad to hear that you've got such a wise and caring husband who looks out for you when you don't eat! listen to him! :) Sorry this got so long...
