HysterectomyFrom: Rose (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 22 May 2001 00:05:02 -0500 (CDT)
Hi ladies, and doc. I've been reading the discussions for a while now. Never really said much. Well, think I'm 'bout to make up for it. I have a question. Before I ask it,...a little history. I've had PCOS for atleast 6 years now. Only got diagnosis this year. The army doctors were very bad and just dismissed my illness to weight. Well, my civillian doc said without a doubt I have PCOS. I wanted to get pregnant, so we were trying clomid, otherwise, I don't have periods, at all. When, as with birth control, I began bleeding, I didn't stop...for months. Last month we decided to do a D&C to check things out. I went back today to follow-up. The pathologist said they had never seen anything so bad, especially in someone so young. (I just turned 25 two days before the d&c). We have decided to do a hysterectomy ASAP. Probably in two weeks. My question is this: Because of the PCOS, we have decided to take the ovaries too. Will this help with the side effects of PCOS? The hirsutism, acne, weight battles.? Anybody? Thanks.
