despite what studies have shown, 500 mg a day did well for me. my doc was going to increase it if i needed it but he thought that 500 mg did well enough. i only began to believe i needed more when i found out that most women were using 1500 to 2000 mg a day. my pcos isn't very severe so maybe that's why 500 mg worked well for me. i lost 55 lbs from taking such a low dose with low carbing. i think it just depends on the individual.
