Re: Zowie.. that 'L' thing--MICHELLEFrom: Zowie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 10 May 2001 16:38:11 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Michelle, I just looked up "Lipodystrophy" on the internet and came up with the website: http://www.thebody.com/treat/lipodystrophy.html and found this: "Lipodystrophy is a name for a collection of changes in body shape that are seen in people taking anti-HIV medications. "Lipo" refers to fat, and "dystrophy" means bad growth. Lipodystrophy is more common in people who are doing well on their antiviral therapy." Based from this explanation, it appears that this is only common in people taking anti-HIV medications. Are you in this category? If not, then I'm really confused as to how this can occur with PCOS women, but I will read through the information further. So far, I haven't seen any link to PCOS, IR or the like--only to those taking the anti-HIV meds. I'm assuming this is the condition you were talking about regarding the enlarged outer labia? I have yet to see that as a symptom through the above mentioned site, but still looking. Maybe I have this condition spelled wrong? Please let me know. Thanks.
