We are luckyFrom: Alicia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 9 May 2001 15:13:48 -0500 (CDT)
Every now and then I scan through the posts on the forum and read a few from newly diagnosed people, or people who have been long suffering and finally found this site. When I found this site a few years back I was so relieved to know that there are other women with this same problem. I still am. I always read with interest the experiences and diverse view points of the people who post on here. And suddenly today, I felt really lucky to have found this forum. We are on the inside of PCOS. I just went to some of the links on pcos posted in another thread (the dr. koop site etc.) and I was so glad to see that the primary focus of PCOS is slowly but surely turning away from 'female problems' to the real culprit, our screwy endocrine system. Today I really felt like we were doing our part to help the new people on this board understand that yes, you have to first get mad that you have been suffering in silence for so long, and two, you now have no choice but to take control of this thing. There is not one woman on this board who is not actively doing SOMETHING to deal with PCOS and it's because of the knowledge gained here. I can't help but think that there are thousands of women wandering around right now who know that something is wrong with them but blame themselves and/or can't get a proper diagnosis. It may be years before they find out what they have and possibly type it in to the internet and discover this forum. That is unfortunate and we must continue to publicize our issues to bring them in. But right now, I feel pretty good. And that's saying a lot for someone with PCOS as we all know. Love, Alicia
