ok, well, first of all, it is a chemical that forces your body to cycle. If you are forcing a cycle, then you are never allowing your body to heal the imbalances in order to cycle on it's own. Good books for you to look into are John Lee, MD's books on natural hormones. He gives tons more information and detail as to why women should be supplementing with natural hormones over the synthetic ones than I could ever provide within a post.

Another reason it is NOT a good thing are the list of side effects... Acne, anaphylaxis (life-threatening allergic reaction), blood clot in a vein lungs, or brain, breakthrough bleeding (between menstrual periods), breast tenderness or sudden or excessive flow of milk, cervical erosion or changes in secretions, depression, excessive growth of hair, fever, fluid retention, hair loss, headache, hives, insomnia, itching, lack of menstruation, menstrual flow changes, spotting, nausea, rash, skin discoloration, sleepiness, weight gain or loss, yellowed eyes and skin.

I guess, if you don't care if you get any of the side effects listed above, then provera is the drug for you. I personally can do without ALL of them.

Synthetic hormones only force your body to do things and at the same time supress the real problem that is causing the imbalance. I cannot imagine why a woman would want to be on something to force a cycle for the rest of her life. I think that it is a matter of personal responsibility and choices of a mature nature- ones that have been researched and thought out before making- and that goes for the medical OR the natural route. I mean, you can keep banging your head against the wall and keep taking aspirin for the headache, but why not go to the root of the problem and find out what is stressing you to cause you to bang your head, then learn how to stop banging your head instead of just relying on the pain med to relieve the headache- not sure if that analogy came out right- but any way-

You mentioned above that the site tells you "about the risks associated with taking any form of progesterone.. ", maybe you would like to research natural progesterone cream before making that blanket statement. There is a huge, HUGE difference between the two.

There is so much out there that you can research and learn about. Don't take things for face value- look into them, make your choices with responsiblity- after all it is YOUR health.
