what do you think?From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Apr 2001 13:15:45 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, I'm a 20 yr. old asian female. I've always had very irregular periods. If not on bpc, I will go 3-4 months without having my period. I started my period when i was 14 and it has been become less frequent and more painful. This has been a constant complaint to every dr. i've ever been to see. They always say that "i'll grow out of it". I also have moderate/severe acne (mostly on chin, some on forehead). My weight and height are normal 5'5", 130lbs. my weight fluctuates about 10 lbs per/year. Also, I don't have any accessive hair growth. I've mentioned this all to my GP and she doens't seem to think there is anything wrong at all. However, i've read some info about symptoms of PCOS being different for differnt ethnicities. I'm sure that I read that a large percentage of Asian women that have PCOS do not exhibit the symptoms of hirutism and obesity. I have a few questions: has anyone else heard of the symptoms of PCOS being different for different ethnicities, asians in particular? I was put on ortho-tricycline for about 2 months and it was a horrible experience and am now on a bpc called Apri (monophasic), is that a good one to be on? Should I keep bugging my GP to test my hormones (since I don't have all they symptoms)? also, i'm on accutane and was wondering if this clears up acne for those with PCOS? I've not had any bad side effects for about 2 weeks. No hair loss and i'm not achy anymore. I know this is a long post but thanks for any replies, Da8thMonth
