Not sure if I have PCOS, maybe you know?From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 28 Apr 2001 02:53:20 -0500 (CDT)
Hi ladies, New to the site, and very glad to have run into it. I'm not sure I have PCOS, and am wondering if not, what I else could have. Here's the low down. I'm 24 and have had constant, moderate acne since I was 18. My derm has not really been able to treat it, and maybe acutain will be the final go. Anyway before that, I want to make sure the acne isn't just a symptom of something else. I've got irregular periods. I'm not sure when they come anymore, because I stopped keeping track. 3 years ago they varied between 2-5 weeks and 3-6 days long. I would say it's stayed the same. I went to the obgyn then, and he said it was normal. I don't go months without periods. I do get terrible cramps on the first day, and end up staying or going home and sleeping. The other reason I'm thinking something is up, is the increased amount of facial hair. I'm already a hairy person, but I know without a doubt the hair on my face is getting worse. I have blonde hair so it's not super noticible, it's just long, and more of it keeps sprouting on my chin, cheeks, and around my mouth. I have been waxing my upper lip, because I couldn't deal with that, but the rest I'm leaving to mother nature. I also have hair on my stomach that has gradually appeared. I've been really bad, and not seen an obgyn for three years, and plan to make an appointment with a new female obgyn this week. I'm really embarrased to bring this stuff up, especially as I've been seeing the derm for two years now. Basically just wondering what other people thought and get some advice on dealing with the doctor before I go. I'm just very frustrated right now. Oh and I'm not fat, or really thin. I don't really know if I'm tired or depressed. I do battle times of sadness, and I can sleep a lot (14 hours a night)! That's not all the time, so I've always thought it was just part of being a human on earth. A million thanks!
