Re: What do you think of these lab results?

Thanks for reposting them! How weird that some numbers just wouldn't cooperate!

I don't know enough to know what prolactin and creatinine should be, so I will stay away from those and just say I get those tested all the time too, so they must have something to do with PCOS! :) (Don't I sound professional?)

TSH, like I said, is a bit high. I believe they aim to have it right around 1. It's not drastic or anything, but a little high. Easily fixed.

Your blood glucose is fairly normal, which we expect with PCOS. The problem is insulin resistance, not diabetes. But, it's good that they checked you for diabetes as well! Just don't let your doctor tell you that your blood sugar was within normal range, hence you don't need medication! IR can cause all kinds of health problems and the whole time your blood sugar can be just fine.

LH and FSH are out, as well - they aim for much lower numbers in general, and a ratio of 1:1 in them. A higher ratio (which you definitely have) is highly indicative of PCOS. That's a great step towards a diagnosis.

Also your testosterone is VERY high. They try to keep your testosterone under 50, and some doctors like to see it as low as 30 or so. I would guess you have problems (like many of the rest of us) with issues like facial or body hair, or acne, or losing your head hair. testosterone causes all those problems. Going on an insulin sensitizer like Met will help lower your testosterone; also there are drugs like Spironalactone that can block its effects and help keep your symptoms to a minimum.

Hope that all helped!
