It's not just the British GPs that have this problem. In the states, many doctors also take the attitude that they a) have nothing to learn from their patients, b) don't need to change their treatment regimin even in the face of overwhelming evidence that it doesn't work and c) will insult a patient rather than admit that they don't know the answer.

I've had several general practitioners as well as gynecologists tell me with a straight face that all I needed to to was watch what I eat, go on the pill to regulate my periods, and then, when I wanted to get pregnant, go on clomid.
