Re: No periods, exhaustion. . . trying to conceiveFrom: paula (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 25 Apr 2001 23:34:23 -0500 (CDT)
you have to regulate your hormones. there are ways to do this. first and most helpful is to regulate insulin levels. met/glucophage can help this. once insulin is under control, other hormones can help get themselves in order. insulin is the crucial factor in treatment though, so it needs to be adressed. if you also watch how many carbs you eat, and you balance your meals with protein and carbs, than you can help to regulate hormone production. another way is to walk. walking 14 miles a week (yes i know that sounds like a lot, but you can work up to it) has been proven to greatly improve hormone production. if you can get your doctor to give you the correct medication, and you will help yourself by monitering your diet and exercise, you can almost totally reverse PCOS effects in the vast majority of cases. love, paula
