I have had this problem since I was 14 years old. I never told my husband until right after we married because I was so ashamed and embarrassed. My parents never even new until a few years ago. No one in my family knew about this until I told them after I married. I would take a shower before anyone else and shave. Back then, I only had to shave my face and neck. By the time I married and had my son when I was 18 I had to start shaving my chest, then a few years later my back. My husband has been a dear about this. He's never made me feel bad and has never tried to hurt my feelings about it. Although many other people outside of family and friends have. I didn't even know what PCOS was until about 4 years ago when I was finally diagnosed by a female gyn. I had discussed the problem with my male gyn but he offered no help other than to tell me it was cosmetic and I couldn't get pregnant. That was all he told me. For years I have felt like a "freak" and I've felt very ugly. It's so good to know there are many more treatments now then there were when I was first diagnosed. And it's good to know that I'm not alone with this awful PCOS. My female gyn never mentioned anything about transvaginal ultrasound, pelvic ultrasound or did any testing to come up with my PCOS diagnosis other than maybe blood tests. She put me on birth control pills and spirolactone. It didn't help very much but after reading all the advancements in PCOS treatment I feel better about going back to her and getting help this time. I quit taking the meds a few years ago because I didn't see any difference but now I feel hopeful for the first time in years. I am curious if anyone out there that suffers from PCOS has ever tried Vaniqua and if it helped. This is one of the treatments I'm going to talk to my gyn about when I go next month. Please email me and let me know if Vaniqua works and if there are any other treatments that you've found especially helpful in reduction of hairloss, weight loss, mood swings, depression, etc. that are associated with PCOS. My email address is: wbmls@whnt.net. Mary
