Need Advice

Hi all! I am new to the forum and thought I would say a little about myself plus ask a question.

I was young when I started my period (10 years old) and was never regular. My mom took me to a doctor and I was put on birth control pills which I remained on until I was 20. That's right, I was on them for 10 years! Even as a 10 year old child I could tell something wasn't quite right. I had all this hair that the other girls didn't have. I had it on my face, especially my upper lip, and on my stomach.

I am 27 years old and I have one daughter who is 4 years old now. I was diagnosed with PCOS around August of last year after my doctor performed an ultrasound. He didn't call it PCOS but SLS. Friday (20 April 2001) I went back to my doctor for a checkup and I told him I was sick of all the symptoms of PCOS - excess hair, overweight, irregular period. I told him I was both physically and emotionally drained. So he suggested a wedge resection and I was all for it until I found out it would have to be repeated in 2-3 years. Since I do not want any other children, I told him I wanted a hysterectomy but he is dead set against it.

1. What should I do? Any advice would be appreciated.

2. Are there any doctors in the Alexandria, LA area that deal with PCOS?

3. Are there any women in the Alexandria, LA area that have PCOS?

Sorry it is such a long post!
