A Discovery - decreasing pain by changing menstrual cycle length

Hi. Demulin (a bcp) was working great for me and helping diminish all my pcos symptoms. The only bad part was that during the 4th week when I had to get my period, I had SO MUCH PAIN!!! After 4 months of trying, still pain, and I thought I'd have to live with this horrible pain and fatigue one week out of every month. Ugh!

So I decided to experiment. I changed my cycle to 5 weeks. Took the Pill for 4 weeks, THEN went off it for a week. To my amazement, my period was heavier, more normal, and I had NO PAIN!!!! It came and went in 3 days, and I felt fine.

Has anyone out there ever heard of this? Experimenting with and changing the length of your cycle? Any idea what may be the cause? I am thinking maybe my body isn't ready to have a period every 4 weeks, and needs that extra week. I don't know. Will mention it to my doctor when I see her in June, but in the meantime, wondered your thoughts. Thanks.
