A Discovery - decreasing pain by changing menstrual cycle lengthFrom: Char (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 20 Apr 2001 21:32:16 -0500 (CDT)
Hi. Demulin (a bcp) was working great for me and helping diminish all my pcos symptoms. The only bad part was that during the 4th week when I had to get my period, I had SO MUCH PAIN!!! After 4 months of trying, still pain, and I thought I'd have to live with this horrible pain and fatigue one week out of every month. Ugh! So I decided to experiment. I changed my cycle to 5 weeks. Took the Pill for 4 weeks, THEN went off it for a week. To my amazement, my period was heavier, more normal, and I had NO PAIN!!!! It came and went in 3 days, and I felt fine. Has anyone out there ever heard of this? Experimenting with and changing the length of your cycle? Any idea what may be the cause? I am thinking maybe my body isn't ready to have a period every 4 weeks, and needs that extra week. I don't know. Will mention it to my doctor when I see her in June, but in the meantime, wondered your thoughts. Thanks.
