yes definately they should have done soemthing more then...actually i would say something less, they probably shouldn't have removed your ovary unless it was for another reason than PCOS. see, PCOS is not a disease of the ovaries, it is misnamed. it is actually a disease of the entire endocrine system.

your doc should have tested for insulin resistance and all that stuff, but unfortunately docs didn't do that then. it was recommended to me at about age 15 i have a hysterectomy. had i not been so adament (and run away from home at the prospect) it would have probably been done. i shudder to think what doctors would have done to us in our ignorance.
