Re: why not cover vaniqua?From: Zowie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 18 Apr 2001 12:49:22 -0500 (CDT)
Really?? They will Rx Vaniqa to men?? My ins. co. (military) won't give me Vaniqa because it's "excessive" and a "cosmetic issue". I think that if you are Rx something because of a MEDICAL CONDITION, your ins. co. SHOULD cover the expense. I can see if you wanted Vaniqa to "abuse" it per say, if you only had 1 or 2 small little hairs on your chinny chin chin that you wanted a cream for instead of plucking, but when you have this due to PCOS (a MEDICAL CONDITION), anything should be covered. That's just my opinion, and sooner or later I'll be getting a letter to Tricare (military HMO) explaining my thoughts on that----along with a complaint about the negligence from all the Dr's I've seen to this point who KNEW I had PCOS and never treated me, which led it to progress to a "severe" status which CAN'T be treated now.--they call it a "grievance", I call it malpractice. Anyhow, I'm up for signing a petition to get Vaniqa and other *necessary* meds covered for us because they are PCOS related (or related by any other medical condition).
