Re: How should I take glucophage?

The people who are taking glucophage 3 times a day would be taking 500mg pills, three times a day, for 1500mg total. (Ditto in a similar way 4 pills a day.) Taking them twice a day I am sure would be fine. What you want to avoid, unless you are taking Glucopahge XR, is taking all of your pills at once. Not only is this harder on your digestion, but as the medicine helps your insulin respond properly to what you eat, you want it in your bloodstream when you have sugar in your bloodstream - ie after you eat. Taking it all at once, say for instance when you wake up, would leave you without the benefits of the medication towards the end of the day.

Hope that made sense - you're fine and definitely stay with what your doctor or pharmacist tells you about it!
