Hey ladies: I am so depressed b/c I just got back from an appt. with my endocrinologist. Here is some background on me: I am 22 y.o.I have PCOS, hirsutism, I am overweight with the fat in the middle, I have hypertension and very irregular periods if I don't take bcp's. Also, I have mood swings and a fast heart rate.

I went to this dr in the hopes of getting metformin b/c of its effects with weight loss and lowering hypertension, but ofcourse all my dr said is lose weight and the hypertension will improve. Well hello, in the past year I have lost 20 lbs and my blood pressure has not improved. I also told him that I exercise almost everyday ( I basically almost begin to cry out of frustration when I said this), and he said, "well i did not say that it would be easy."

Then, I broached the topic of IR and PCOS and hypertension link and he said that he only treats the hypertension with hypertension meds. Currently I take Norvasc, Atenolol, HCTZ for Hypertension. Also, I take OrthoCyclen and Spironolactone for PCOS. I am at my wits end with this and I am only 22. Why don't doctors listen instead of judge??? What can I do to make him understand? Its so sad that my dr is someone who is teaching other people to be dr.'s. What would you do if this was your doctor? P.S. my dr only took a fasting glucose level which was 98, he did not take an insulin to glucose ratio. Thanks for your support and understanding.
