PCOS - InfertilityFrom: Judi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 15 Apr 2001 23:12:16 +0100
Hi everyone, I've been on sites for people trying to concieve, but i only recently found this one. I was diagnosed with PCOS about two years ago after i had a hormone profile done as part of routine investigations into infertility. I didn't start periods until i was 15 and just figured i was a late bloomer. When I came off the pill prior to trying i started to get hairs on my tummy (which also started to get podgy) and more recently on my breasts. Luckily I have a great hubby who doesn't seem to mind. I do have problems with ingrowing (sort of) hairs when I shave my legs. I have dark hair anyway which doesn't help! I use dipilatory cream on my upper lip. I've got away with it quite lightly by the sounds of things, except for the infertility thing. I have a friend in Australia who has PCOS she has two kids. She didn't want to do the drugs thing so she just carried on naturally. It took five years, but now she has a little girl (she already had a boy). When I go and see the infertility people my PCOS is never mentioned. I'm on Clomid and having injections of Profazi mid cycle, we'll see how it goes, but I didn't know that PCOS increases your chances of miscarriage :-( Why am I bothering?!!!!!!! i know there are success stories, and I'm sure it will happen in the end, but two years is a long time to me, and I don't know how i'd cope if it ended in misscarriage. hubby has just read this and given me a big hug, he says 'you'll cope because we have each-other, and we'll get through it together'. He's great. I'm wondering if anyone's tried Homeopathy or Reflexology? I tried them for other problems (when I first came off the pill I got exczema on my face once a month every month with my period, dr's just said put steriod cream on it!) which have cleared up, but I'm thinking of going back to see if they can balance my wonky hormones. Happy Easter, from Judi
