Re: Period came fast on Metformin?FOR CassandraFrom: paula (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 9 Apr 2001 13:18:22 -0500 (CDT)
Heather, i applaud your decision to aviod the junkfood. however you should know how nuitrition and insulin levls work. the goal of the met is to regulate your insulin levels so that other hormones in the body can also regulate. if you are only eating once a day, your insulin is not being controlled. also when you do not eat for a long period of time you slow your metabolism and the body begins to hold on to the fat in the body becuase it thinks you are starving it. even though you are not hungry, your cells are. if you are moving or breathing your cells are using energy, when you do not feed them, they begin to draw on your bodies stores, people generally think they are using fat cells for that energy, but when you do not eat on a regular basis, what they are actually using is muscle mass, so if you lose weight by not eating you are not usually losing fat, you are losing muscle, which is not what you want to do. you should be eating several times a day. the best way to regulate your insulin levels and continue to burn fat is to eat very small protein based meals every 4-5 hours. i know you probably ar not hungry, but you still need to feed your body. hope this helps =) love, paula
