Hi Debbie,
I wondered if you could answer a few Q's I have.
Brief History:-
I was diagnosed by a Gynaecologist back in March (referred to by my Dr
because I'd not had a period and my skin and weight was bad). I should say
my husband and I were/are TTC. The Gyn examined me and booked me for a scan
to confirm his diagnosis of PCOS which was conclusive. He simply told me to
go away and lose weight and when I was at a comfortable weight (and not at
such a heavy weight to carry a baby) I could go back and get the Clomid
prescription. That's how it was left back in April last year (2000).
I've been taking herbal remedies religiously since September and have had
some success: had 2 periods after a gap of 14 months (looking like every 3
months), skins better (not completely clear) and I've had some success with
my weight (I struggle with this).
I recently read an article about the importance of EFA's and I've recently
started taking Evening Primrose Oil (Omega 3) and Flaxseed Oil (Omega 6).
Questions:-
1. Did your specialists do any IR tests on you before prescribing Met?
I've read lots of messages here that say they're on this dosage or
that dosage but nothing that says what
tests, if any, they've had to go through.
2. What reason did he give you for prescribing Met?
3. Do you have problems with your periods?
4. Do you think I should go back to the Gyn or my Dr to try and get the
prescription?
My Dr's not the most approachable man and I'm worried I'll let him dismiss
me. I hope you can sympathise knowing the UK Health System. I've had a
couple of PCOS books delivered today which I'll start reading at lunchtime
to see if they recommend any other treatments - it's just that Met sounds
like it's as hard to come by in the UK as Gold Dust.
I'd appreciate any advice you can give me - I want to make sure I'm clued up
before even thinking about going to my Dr or Gyn.
Thank you.
Hannah
