I received this message today from the PCOSA mail list... I thought it was an interesting connection and thought it was at least worth posting for discussion. God knows I have sleep troubles. I have always attributed them to the depression that I attribute, then, to the PCOS! Maybe there IS a link...

Did anybody see 20/20 tonight? They had a story on sleep deprivation that said new studies connect sleep deprivation with, among other things, insulin resistance! Here's an excerpt from the article online, with a link to the full article.

"Van Cauter's early findings suggest that chronic short sleepers have a hard time keeping their blood sugars stable, which makes them prone to insulin resistance and obesity. Experts are now speculating that lack of sleep could be the missing link in understanding America's obesity epidemic."
