I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago, I was 18. So much information and no clue as to what an earth it all meant. I was diagnosed in my lunch break during work. I thought I was only going to the Gynochologist because my periods had disappeared and he'd give me a tablet, some advice and away I'd go. Boy what a shock for me. All I seemed to hear through out the whole consultation was INFERTILE, TROUBLE CONCEIVING and MISCARRIGE. It gave me a real fright. Here I was 18 and wasn't even thinking about having a family let alone thinking these words. It was a shock but from then on I decided to stick it out and try and learn from what was going on in my body.

I have been coping pretty well, I try to keep active and keep weight off and my periods are under control but I think the hardest syptom for me is the horrendous PMS symptoms I get before my artificial period. I am a bitch plain and simple. I don't know if any one else suffers this but it is the biggest obstacle I've faced yet because of PCOS. My doctor says it is related but is lost for words after that. I am moody, depressed, bloated, irrational, frustrated and intolerant for 2 weeks out of every month. Luckily I have a very understanding partner who has been with me every step of the way. I just want to make the most of my life not spend 2 weeks out of this planet.

I'm so relieved to find this site. People who know whats going on. Advice from people who know! Unfortunately not many of my friends understand the concept of what might lie ahead for me in terms of starting a family and it is alot to take on board right now. But if anyone has wise words of wisdom, lay it on me. Thankyou for being my sounding board. I just hope this isn't something that is going to hang over me throughout most of my life.
