Birth control pills and PCOS

Hi, I wanted to see if I could get some of your experiences with the birth control pill and its effects on unwanted (male pattern) hair growth in PCOS. My doctor prescribed the pill for me, saying it would take about 6 months for me to see results as far as removal of unwanted hair. I've never been on the pill before, and I have a few questions in general, and about the specific pill she prescribed for me (LO-OVRAL).

1. Does the birth control really control/remove unwanted hair? 2. Has anyone had any experiences (good or bad) specifically with LO-OVRAL and icontrolling unwanted hair? 3. Can anyone tell me side effects they've noticed with LO-OVRAL? So far I've noticed a drop in appetite, and tender and enlarged breasts.
