Re: Birth Control Pills and PCOSFrom: Molly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 28 Mar 2001 20:51:01 -0800
I have been told that Lo Ovral is not a good pill for women with PCOS by a well respected endo. I have heard that Ovcon 35, Diane 35, and Demulen are good. Take care! molly -----Original Message----- From: anonymous@obgyn.net [mailto:anonymous@obgyn.net Behalf Of Beth Sent: Wednesday, March 28, 2001 8:45 PM To: Multiple recipients of list PCOS Subject: Birth Control Pills and PCOS Hi, I wanted to see if I could get some of you to share your experiences with the birth control pill and its impact on PCOS. I've never been on the pill before, and my doctor prescribed LO-OVRAL brand to control the hair growth from PCOS. She said it would take at least six months for me to see any visible changes as far as the hair. Here are my main questions/concerns. 1.) Does the pill really get rid of unwanted (male pattern) hair growth? 2.) Does anyone have experience specifically with LO-OVRAL? If so, is this a good brand for PCOS symptoms? 3.) Can anyone tell me any specific side effects they've seen with LO-OVRAL? I've noticed a loss in appetite, and tenderness and swelling in the breasts. Thanks for your time and consideration!! Beth
