Hi Jody :) It sounds like, unfortunately, someone has greatly mislead you with your PCOS diagnosis. I would look into getting another doctor straight away! The cysts on the ovaries do NOT cause PCOS. They are just one symptom of PCOS that some women can get. Some women don't get cysts at all. They think now that the root cause of PCOS has to do with your insulin levels and how your body uses that insulin. This also explains the other problems you have with weight gain etc. Don't feel alone, that is something that has happened to far too many of us! There are drugs available now that can help to minimize your symptoms and help you to be healthy again. (Birth control pills are not one of those drugs!) Keep reading here, find a new doctor if at all possible, search the web, and do some reading at http://www.pcosupport.org. We'll help you figure it out :)
