I just did a little research and yes, the 24 hour urine test is used to rule out Cushings. If that test is positive then you will probably be given another test for cortisol called the dexamethasome suppression test. A blood test is actually rather useless, so it's good that your doctor is trying to rule out cushings with more reliable test. PCOS: The Hidden Epidemic also says that Cushings is very rare and that obese patients often have "incomplete dexamethasone suppression." So, unless your cortisol is EXTREMELY high, you probably just have PCOS. Don't get me wrong, you should have the test, but try not to worry.
