Your Thoughts, PleaseFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netTue, 27 Mar 2001 23:36:52 EST
Hello Ladies, I'm 29 and am considering (seriously, and no I haven't talked to my doctors yet) the option of having my uterus, ovaries, and tubes removed (this is known as a total hysterectomy with a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy). I know that having this done wont cure me and that it wont result in the insulin resistance disappearing or a dramatic weight loss. I do however believe that it would help the hormonal rollercoaster that PCOS has me on. The only time I don't bounce around emotionally like an in use ping-pong ball is when I'm on bcp's. I feel horrible when I take progesterone or provera and don't like the idea of being on bcp's for the next 20-30 years. While I love children; I'm not willing to put myself the emotional battlefield of ttc. Of course this is assuming I had someone in my life that I would want as the father and even at that the odds that I'd conceive and then carry to full term at necessarily in my favor. I truly think/feel that this would be something that would be beneficial for me and that I wouldn't regret. Your thoughts? Please. Laura
