Re: My Two Cents on Symptoms (a little long =)

Hello all, I agree with Paula 100%. I read the posts here and start saying to myself, uh oh, another PCOS hypochondriac. That really worries me because there are SO many of us that have all of these symptoms that can't be explained "logically" other than "it must be due to PCOS"---that's the first thought that many ladies have pop in their heads. A lot of times, it just isn't true, but it's our HOPE that someone will FINALLY recognize this disease and find a cure that drives us into honestly thinking ALL of our problems are PCOS related---makes for more "documented" symptoms--so more information. It's so sad that some of us feel this way, and believe me--I certainly understand where they, we, are all coming from. I have yet to find a compassionate Dr. (other than Sam on the board) who understands what PCOS is and will try to attack it CORRECTLY. I realize that Dr's are still new to this (as are WE to a point), so I can understand why some just don't know about it. However, if that Dr is deliberately unaware or is totally BLIND to the research that IS available out there and therefore refuses treatment or simple understanding---that is where I draw the line. It's one thing to honestly not know about it, but to purposely shield yourself from it and therefore be blind to our problems and dismiss us is WRONG. W-R-O-N-G!! And how many of us have had this happen?? I can honestly say that at least 90% of us had or will run into this problem with Dr's. If they don't know about it, they should learn about it. We live in such pain and agony physically, and then have to take on a double load of that because we can't find the right Dr. who is understanding and compassionate. This is why we are so desperate to find answers. If we "discover" a "new" symptom, then there is more information available regarding PCOS. This sparks hope in our eyes because we think that we're actually closer to profound understanding and even better, a cure. We want so desperately to be treated as human beings who have legitimate medical issues that we'll try ANYTHING to get serious medical attention on PCOS. These symptoms that we find may obviously NOT be PCOS related, but we still have this extreme hope that drives us into thinking that---just for the sake of more research which is the basis for a cure. Why have we been forced to come to this point?? Why should we be dealing daily with the BS from Dr's who refuse to be educated on this?? Why should we be made to suffer and made to feel ashamed from comments that it's OUR faults?? When will it end??!! We just need some understanding and compassion----and the lack of is what is driving our hopes. Yes, we are scorned women, but we choose to FIGHT, and that, ladies, says a LOT about women with PCOS.
