Re: Does laser hair removal work or not? From: Dona (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 25 Mar 2001 11:49:48 -0600 (CST)
Hi A.L., I had my first Laser Tx done 2 1/2 weeks ago.It was done with a Lyra Laser which is one of the newest lasers out there. It cost me 570.00 for 4 treatments.I was also told that if I saw no results after 2 weeks with the first treatment that she would do it again for free.Well 2 1/2 weeks later I am noticing that the hair I had treated on my jawline and chin are starting to fall out when I wash my face or use my exfoliating mask.I am happy so far. I dont think it will take more than 4 treatments for me to be hair free on my face. I am also going to start using Vaniqa after the treatments are done to insure that it will not grow back. As far as I know there are NO FDA approved methods for permanent hair removal but laser seems to be the most Long term removal method and along with Vaniqa should be as close to permanent removal as I can get. It treats a large area at a time and takes about 10 minutes they use a topical anesthetic and it is a burning sensation when they do it but it wasnt as painful as I had heard it would be and I was suprised how easy it was and it dosent cost thousands of dollars to do like some people think it does. just a few hundred. But check around because some places charge more than others and depending on the area you live. I live in an area were everything tends to be a bit more expensive (SF Bay Area). Hope this helps a bit. Good luck, Dona
