My obgyn and Endo told me that the component in the pill that determins the androgenic effect is the progesterone and the best ones to take are the ones that have a low level of progestin like the ones I mentioned. I thought I have always been told and have read that the mini pills are not good for us to take. But every time I turn around something new comes to light that contradicts what I thought I knew. I agonized over the decision to take the pill 'cause I have heard so much conflicting info on its use with PCO and I was put on Levelite for about 7 months by an uninformed Gyn while waiting to get a referral to an Endo. What a nightmare... I lost over half of my hair and my facial hair quadrupled. The only good thing about it was I lost a little weight because it made me sick. So I tried to do my homework before started a different one. I do know that when trying to conceive that our progesterone levels have to be supported to acheive and maintain conception. I didnt mean to misdirect or confuse anyone, instead of low level of Progesterone, which was how I understood it, I guess I should have said least androgenic.
