I can assure you it is actually quite common to have larger labia minora than labia majora. I work as a gynaecology nurse and see this quite often. It is probably unrelated to the sex problem. Intercourse can be painful for many reasons. The most likelt in your case is that your wife is a little unsure of what is happening as it is her first time and she is nervous. Things need to be taken very slowly to allow her to feel comfortable. In some women if they are too nervous to have sex an involuntary spasm of the vagina occurs, called vaginismus. This will make penetration difficult if not impossible. What she needs most from you is your love and support and time. I wish you luck, Emma
