Hi. About a year ago I went to a dematologist because my legs were so scaly and dry they made me look 100 years old! The derm told me it was called ichthyosis (a scaly skin disease) and she told me that it starts at birth. But I didn't have it until the last 3 or so years ago (another weird PCOS by-product perhaps? I didn't get into the whole PCOS thing with her.) She told me to use a lotion called amlactin which is a highly concentrated lactic acid lotion. In a matter of weeks my skin looked like a 26 years olds again. The derm also said that no amount of exfoliation or oil moisturizing would have gotten rid of it. In fact, she told me not to even use soap on that part of my legs (knees down) instead use Cetaphil. Hope this helps a little!
