Hi, Actos is pioglitazone and avandia is rosiglitazone..they are both in the glitazone family of drugs. They are metabolized by differant pathways but are very simular drugs.Actos is good for lowering blood lipid levels..because both these drugs are related to Rezulin (troglitazone)in that they are metabolized by the liver...there is an extremely slight chance of liver toxicity. I have been taking actos for six months and it has been working for me...but then everyones body is differant and what works for one person may not for another. I just like that there are no real side affects except for a little weight gain which can be controlled by low carbing and exercise. Hope I answered your question. it is a good drug if you cant handle the gastro side affects of Glucophage (metformin)but glitazones dont make you loose weight without trying like Met does. Good luck,Dona >
