It can be really variable. I have never had regular periods with metformin, but I now have them every few months (which is better than 2/year) ranging from every 6 weeks to 3-4 months. I don't know why the effect is so inconsistent, but my "cycle" goes through a reasonably regular for 3 months then disappears again...I'm in the disappeared phase as we speak!
