Anyone ever have a LEEP? - help!

I have PCOS and have been very lucky to have found this forum. I can't tell you all how much it's helped to have folks to talk with who are going through the same stuff I am. It's been great to watch this site grow over the past several years.

I have a question that is perhaps a bit off subject. I've recently had a couple abnormal pap smears and subsequent colposcopies and biopsies. The doctor would now like to do a LEEP. He wants to do it as outpatient surgery - so I would have to do all the pre-op stuff and be put to sleep for the procedure. All that I've read on line indicates that this is usually an office procedure and that most women can tolerate it fine awake with just general anesthesia. I was wondering if anyone here has ever had this procedure. Were you awake? Was it ok to tolerate? How much worse was it than the colposcopy?

I have a lot of conerns and am just hopeful that someone can tell me about their experience. Is it worth going to the hospital for or should i try it as an office procedure? Help!! Thanks to all! Robyn
